A Bomag 120 Twin Drum Roller was reported stolen overnight in Yorkshire from a site. Our unique technology indicated that the stolen unit was in a vehicle or building about 15 miles away from the theft location.
Within 2 hours, our CanTrack Investigations Unit had arrived in the area, commenced search and located the roller to the back of a locked Mercedes Sprinter. Our Investigator identified the hidden unit despite it being inside an enclosed van.
Recovery was organised by our customer with South Yorkshire Police advised of the situation. Access to the van was made and visual confirmation of the roller was made. Along with the roller, numerous false/clone plates were discovered.
On removal from the van, the roller had been extensively searched for traditional wired trackers without realising the machine was protected by CanTrack Protect.
The roller was successfully recovered by the customer shortly after.
This machine was hidden in a vehicle that has obviously been actively used in the commission of plant theft due to the number of false registration plates within it. It is believed that the plates fitted to the vehicle at the time of this theft were the false ones as they were in the back with the machine. It is possible that the other items stolen at the same time were contained within this van as the pressure hose from one of those was with the Roller.
While recovering the roller is a win for our customer, the recovery of the van is a big loss for the criminals.
