On a Friday afternoon, a multi-drop delivery driver had a van stolen in Kent while making a routine drop after leaving the van keys in the van. The driver failed to notify the van owner, the police and CanTrack about the theft until the following Monday. A CanTrack Investigator went to the last known location of the van where we received notification that the van was currently being driven towards Central London. At a safe distance, our Investigator followed the van to a residential road where it was identified on false plates. Kent Police attended and the driver voluntarily approached and introduced himself to the Police where he was escorted to a local Police Station for interview.
Once again, we have two pieces of basic advice.
– Don’t leave keys in a van during a delivery-drop and
– If someone down the pub offers you a van at a deal that’s too good to be true – it is!
The van was collected shortly after with advice regarding the speed of theft reporting.
