Our Investigations Unit took a call early in the morning from one of our customers who reported that a Kubota KX008 Micro Excavator had been stolen overnight.
The team remotely tracked the machine to a small patch of woodland near the sea. With specific co-ordinates gained, our Investigations Unit set off for the site and arrived on-scene shortly after. With assistance from South Wales Police, we gained access to the wooded area and visually identified the excavator as the unit in question.
The customer was notified and sent a recovery vehicle to the scene where the Kubota Excavator was recovered a few hours after the notification of theft.
The style of thefts seem to come in waves and we’re firmly in the ‘let’s hide the stolen kit in woodland’ phase. Thieves are hiding stolen equipment and machinery in woodland as it’s difficult to get to, hidden from the eye and less people are about to question them. Sounds great in theory but thieves tend to forget that we have the technology to track our customer’s machinery globally so a spot of local woodland is no problem for our Investigations Unit.
