We received a report early in the morning that a Manitou Telehandler was stolen from the East Midlands overnight along with the lifting pins that were attached. All the data suggested that the machine was taken overnight and left several miles away near a disused farm.
As the data shows the machine on private property, local police were informed and met our Investigations Unit in a nearby village to assess the data.
With Police assistance, we rapidly located the machine near a derelict building. The buildings are located far from the main road and the machine was located between two buildings.
This is a usual tactic where local thieves find secluded spots to let stolen machines ‘cool off’. This tactic is effective until the point the stolen machine has a covert telematics device such as the CanTrack Protect unit.
The owners were contacted and arranged for their own recovery to a local depot.
